History
For many century years, a moo, mucky locality was occupied mostly per Potawatomi tribe. Late, in the early 19th century, it was the virtually all unpleasant the share of a trail between Lansing and Dexter (which at the instance contained the major farmers market) & the point on the route taken by bargainer portaging between the Huron River and the Grand River.
In the late 1830s, George Reeves, a New York farmer, started many businesses in the arethe — a general store, and the mill, and the distillery — which became the core of the minor people center; per 1840s, enough humans experienced immigrated to produce the 70-individual school viable (assuming 19th century birth rates, this pegs the people someplace about its todays level).
Around 1841, as of these story goes, Reeves was asked what he wanted a town to become known as & responded, "I don't care, you can name it Hell if you want to." His later tries to rechristen it Reevesville or even Reeve's Mills proved futile.
Miscellanea
